Review of Interiority

I am not someone who normally gets very excited about a book of poetry, since so much written today needs a lot of translation or explanation for my understanding. It was a true delight, therefore, to stumble on Bonnie Wehle's book. Some of her earlier poems reveal a lot of emotion and generated a tear or two. These poems are the work of a very educated and talented mind and show the complexity of the human spirit in a brilliant style. I hope the poet will continue to write and publish more of her inspiring work. If you don't read this book, you will be missing some wonderful poetry and a very valuable book.

Poetry from the Heart

This wonderful book of poetry caused me to reflect on a variety of subjects. Bonnie Wehle has written poems not only from her heart but from an outstanding intellectual perspective. Some of the poems in this collection moved me to tears, while others made me laugh. I high recommend this lovely book of poetry.

Unifies cosmology, geology, biology in one continuous tale

The concept is cute - trace "the life of an oxygen atom" from the big bang to life on earth. From reading this book you get an amazing series of new "aha's" and interests in further science topics to read.

Lawrence Kraus is one of those real-life physicists who likes to communicate the latest details of their science to the rest of us. As a physics major who moved on to a career in business but never lost their fascination for science, I love that!

The beauty of "Atom" is it unifies cosmology, geology, and biology in one tale. Krauss includes the latest on how the first seeds of life are thought to have evolved (e.g., on meteorites that crashed into earth). He reminds us that we are all made of stardust (i.e., carbon and heavier elements that were forged in ancient stars which then went nova, spreading their material universe wide for new stars, planets, and beings).

I never realized how many times a solar system could start to coalesce only to be blown about again. Ditto the conditions on what is to eventually be Earth. Kruass' discussion of what was going on with Earth while the poor meteorite was trying to land triggered me to follow up next with a great book on geology.

One caveat: he's a tad wordy but it's worth it because he includes the details that other popularizations leave out. Now it's in paperback woot!

An excellent introduction to Strategic Management

This is one of my favourite strategy texts. At first, I found this book fairly heavy reading. However, once I got deeper into the subject, I found it very useful (especially when I was studying for an MBA). I believe that the text provides the reader with a good grounding on strategic principles on which to build more specialist knowledge of the subject.
The text covers all the key steps of strategy development including analysis, selection and implementation. For each step, Johnson and Scholes also provides a number of techniques (including, PEST analysis, Porter's Diamond, Porter's Five Forces, Value Chain analysis, SWOT, Cultural Web, etc).

Best study book in Strategy currently available

When being midway in my MBA Strategy course, I bought this book. I've never regretted it, and it continues to be one of my favorites. In fact, I have many times wished I had it as my study litterature, as the authors manage to get thru a number of subjects in sufficient detail to make it understandable. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject. If you're not interested in Strategy, skip this book, as they are very concentrated on making you understand and learn what they are discussing. In short, I won't trade this book for anything, it saved my hide a number of times during study and I keep getting back to it to refresh my memory or understand some finer points.

Phenomenal work which will challenge sophisticated readers

Cristina Peri Rossi's work is thought-provoking treatise on exile and isolation whose metaphor resonated with me. The language is sophisticated and engaging, while at the same time evocative of the sparseness and detachedness at the novel's core. This is an impressive work which has established the author as an important new voice, not only for those interested in Latin American literature or women authors, but for anyone interested in perspectives which push the envelope of the literary canon. If you are interested in being challenged, read this book.

This book falters in terms of character and plot development

This book does provide some interesting perspectives on the nature of exile and relationship to the condition of women in Western cultures. Peri Rossi's depictions of women as subservient and oppressed are drawn from her own life experiences as one who was exiled and harassed due to her lesbian lifestyle. How well her experiences translate into plausible examples and the soundness of the structure of her novel as a whole are matters that can certainly be called into question. The depictions of the tapestry that preface each viaje or chapter do not always make sense in terms of their relatedness to the following narrations of Ecks' and his companions' discoveries and experiences. The opening section, the Cement Factory episode and the Journey into London, however, are quite interesting reading. With these sections Peri Rossi effectively conveys clear, convincing ideas which still resonant with me. All in all, a book worth purchasing.

this book is the most ridiculos thing i've ever come across.

this was the most god awfull book ever. im a college student and i was supposed to read this book for class. otherwise i would not have picked it up. she was very vague and hard to understand.
