Not a comprehensive history but still a valuable work

The first thing that must be said is not a comprehensive history of the Tiger I and II. It does not contain a complete set of pictures and line drawings, and is perhaps not the most useful source for the modeler from that standpoint. It does contain a lot of color photos of existing Tigers - at Aberdeen, Munster, Bovington, Saumur, and Fort Knox - and those pictures are worthwhile.

The interesting thing about this book is that it contains a lot of *Allied* viewpoints on the Tiger - intelligence reports and after-action reports from Americans, British, and Soviets who faced the Tiger. The author also describes all the various methods the Allies used to deal with the Tiger: aircraft, anti-tank guns, artillery, and in the Soviet case, the SU-152 and IS-2. At times there was so much emphasis on this I thought the book should have been called "Beating the Tiger".

The main German viewpoint the author draws from is Otto Carius, Tiger in the Mud.

In sum, while this might not be the best and most comprehensive book on the Tiger tanks, it is still well done and includes a lot of information I'd never seen before.

Very Comprehensive Tiger Anthology

Compared to all those other tank books, which I mostly own, this is one of the better of those. Specifically for the Tiger Tanks. Vast amounts of data on variants, pictures (most previously unpublished and lots), and specifications. Covers detail description, suspension, turrets, engines, misc category, armour, armament, smoke, ammunition, construction and layout, gearbox, tracks, weapons, vision, hatches, gun ports, ventilation, dimensions, and crew ergonomics inside the tank. This is a must have book for any tank fan!

I was disappointed by the online access, old fashion looks like in the snapshot picture, non compatible with phones and tablets, needs flash player, some questions will keep coming, and some never come up.. however, I like that questions are related to clinical practice..

About the Author
GREGORY R. OSCHE, PhD, received a doctorate in physics from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1975. For the past twenty-three years, he has specialized in the field of electro-optic systems development at Raytheon Company where he has functioned as Systems Engineering Manager, Multisensor Systems Manager, and technical director on a variety of military laser radar and multisensor programs. He currently holds the position of Engineering Fellow within the Air and Missile Defense Business Unit of Raytheon Electronic Systems. Dr. Osche has published over thirty technical papers in fields ranging from elementary quantum theory to optical detection theory. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the Optical Society of America and of the American Physical Society.

It is a good book for good understanding of the concept but it has a major fall back. There are some mistakes and missing points in formulas and derivations such that you feel to derive every formula again.

It would be nice if codes for the simulated images and etc. in the book is also included.

Could have been better, but it's ok overall

This book isn't as great for beginners as previous reviewers have said. It's just that it's better than many of the other "beginners" books, which appear to have been written by people who are so deep into the subject they've forgotten what it's actually like to be a beginner.
The authors claim to be aiming for simplicity, and ask beginners to read chapter-by-chapter, but a number of times I've found that they reference material from chapters well advanced into the book. This is particularly noticeable in the "Self-Test" and "Try This" sections at the end of each chapter.
Although great additions, it's really frustrating to thoroughly read a chapter and then be given a "Self-Test" or asked to "Try This" - with an example of something you haven't read, and won't encounter for another 2 or three chapters. It's frustrating and makes you feel like giving up. A better proof-read, or better feedback from actual beginners may have picked these issues up. So, it's far from perfect but none of the 'beginners' books are. But, if you can get over those issues, which in the scheme of things are quite minor, this is indeed a useful guide to starting out in HTML/CSS.

good beginner's book

this book was a good beginner's html book. if you're coming from a programming background though, you'll be able to tell that it was not written by a programmer (which she herself admits to). but that's okay, since you end up learning the subject material anyway.

i had to subtract a star because there were some misstatements (e.g. writing 'attribute' instead of 'property') and quite a few code mistakes, as another reviewer pointed out.

i don't agree with the 2 star reviews. this book is a lot better than that.

Good monograph on Damascene

John Damascene was one of the last great church fathers to live before the great schism which separated Christianity between its Orthodox and Catholic branches. In both churches Damascene is revered as a great saint and theologian, and is a doctor of the Catholic Church.

Damascene wrote several works, including anti-heresy treatises, philosophical works, and the classical exposition of Christan theology called 'On Orthodox Theology', which outlines the Christian understanding of God. Damascene also defended the use of icons in Churches, against iconoclasts who desired to implement the Old Testament commandment about the destruction of images of the divine. The centrality of icons to the theology and faith of the Orthodox Church today is due in large part to Damascene's famous defence.

Like most Easterns, Damascene emphasizes the incomprehensibility of God's nature (the only thing we can know about God is his infinity and incomprehensibility) and his faith is deeply mystical at times. However, he remains essential reading for the student of church history and theology.

Louth (who has also written works on Dionysius and Christian mysticism) writes a readable introduction to this great Father's thought.

THis book is the culmination of Louth's many years of research on St John.

St. John avoided speculation, but rather understood his task to be that of a fatihful transmitter of the faith once delivered.

St John is shown here to be a Cyrilline-Chalcedonian, trying to bring together those factions who were so devoted to Cyril's formula: "one incarnate nature of God the Word."

I may have learned more because of how buggy the code examples were.

I have mixed emotions about writing this review. I must admit that I learned a good bit about node.js and the content walked me step-by-step through with examples that had me coding from page 1. To say this is an early draft is denying that it must be a first draft. The majority (without exaggeration) of the code samples will not run due to differences in variable names throughout the code. Chapter 9 re: RESTful API has an introduction talking about using HTTP verbs (correctly) and then completely ignored them throughout the text. This is actually damaging to someone who doesn't know about REST as they believe they should have urls like "listUsers" to see the list of users and use a GET request to delete a user. Here's the thing...I gave it three stars because I learned more debugging the code examples and thinking through more appropriate approaches to the code examples. Almost makes me wonder if using deliberately buggy code would actually is a more effective way to teach coding topics (with an introduction to set the expectation).

This is actually a great reference if you are new to Node JS. Usually, programming is very hard and takes years before you could really master it. For some, like me for example, who only had very few knowledge about Node, this is a great book for us to understand what Node JS is, what it does, how to install it, etc.
